Have you arranged for broadband to be installed at your home or business premises? Or perhaps you've got broadband, but you now want to share the connection on a computer network.

We have the knowledge and expertise to install both wired and wireless internet connections, and to setup small shared networks. To share an internet connection between multiple computers you will need a wired or wireless enabled router and possibly a wireless adapter to make the computers wireless enabled (most newer laptops now come with integrated wireless facilities). The main thing to be aware of before purchasing is which telephone system you have, that is do you have a Virgin Media or BT phone line? Some routers are made specifically for each supplier and won't work on other systems.

We can supply and fit the necessary equipment for you, or we can install equipment that you've bought yourself.* **

It goes without saying of course that we will supply all the necessary internet security software should you require it, and we will also make sure that any wireless connections are secured against any unauthorised attempts to steal your bandwidth. We have seen instances where people have been "sharing" another wireless connection sourced a few doors away.

First off, we don't have a callout fee (unless the appointment is cancelled with no good reason, see note). Quite a lot of local computer engineers operate on a fixed fee basis, charging by the job - this could work out expensive in the long run! We just charge by the hour for the job you've called us out for, we're not expensive. The engineer will then take a few basic details before arranging a mutually convenient time to visit.

* Note - high powered wireless signals are not gauranteed in some areas, also the physical structure of your premises can have a bearing on the quality of signal.
** Note - your phone must be certified as broadband enabled before we visit. If it turns out lack a problem/lack of service is as the result of a line that isn't yet activated, you will be charged for our time as this is beyond our control.
